Colonel Mark H. Johnson, (USA, Retired) is a Professor of Practice of Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. His area of focus is Distributor technology. He serves as the Faculty Advisor for the Society of Women in Engineering, Theta Chi Fraternity, Century Men’s Society, and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He is a 2018 Fish Camp Namesake, and he is an Association of Former Students College-Level Distinguished Teaching Award Recipient in 2019. He was the Fraternity Advisor of the Year for 2020. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award from PAID in 2014, 2021, and 2025.
He previously served as the Director of Cyber Solutions for Camber Corporation from April 2012 to December 2013.
Colonel Johnson was a member of the Senior Executive Service (Flag/General Officer Equivalent for Federal Government Employees) from August 2008 to September 2011. He was the Director, Joint Information Operations Warfare Center (JIOWC), Lackland Air Force Base, Texas until September 30, 2011. The Joint Information Operations Warfare Center was the lead USSTRATCOM component for Information Operations and Strategic Communication in support of US national security objectives including the Global War on Terrorism. The Center's 450 plus personnel supported the development of global effects and provide IO/SC planning in support of USSTRATCOM mission areas of strategic deterrence, space, and cyberspace operations.
Colonel Johnson served in the US Army from May 1979 to June 2008, and he commanded units from Platoon to Brigade level. He retired with the rank of Colonel. Prior to his active duty retirement, Colonel Johnson was the Commander of the 1st Information Operations Command; and Deputy Commander, Joint Information Operations Warfare Command. His assignments include service in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a Master Parachutist, and he earned both Ecuadorian and Venezuelan Master Parachutist Badges.
Mark is a Class of ‘78 graduate of Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Marketing) as a Distinguished Military Graduate. He was a member of Company F-2 in the Corps of Cadets, the Ross Volunteer Company, Bonfire Committee Green Pot (Finances), a Distinguished Student, and a Distinguished Military Graduate. He is also a 1991 graduate of Central Michigan University with a Master of Science Degree in Administration, and he is a 2002 graduate of the U.S. Army War College.
He is married to Laura Good Johnson. They have two children (both Aggies) and six grandchildren.
